SONG REVIEW – CHARLIE PUTH

“Beat Yourself Up” is Charlie Puth’s now second single off of upcoming album, “Whatever’s Clever!”. The song was released on January 16th, 2026 following lead single, “Changes”. The track is very much your standard, state of the art pop song, with it’s upbeat, linear instrumental. The lyrics themselves aren’t much to ponder about, with the song just being about quite literally, not beating yourself up over past mistakes.

Charlie has been known for being a talented producer, and while you can argue the track is a tad “over-produced”, you can’t deny the success of it’s catchy, methodical instrumental. The song hooks listeners in, and makes them want to dance, which is really all a bubbly pop song needs to do. Overall, not the most innovative or original piece of work, but definitely accomplishes it’s goal.
