SONG REVIEW – MITSKI

Released on January 16th, 2026, “Where’s My Phone?” gives us our first preview of Mitski’s upcoming album, “Nothing’s About to Happen to Me”. Mitski’s trademark indie rock style really shines here, with the track’s insrtumental coming through to provide a complex yet balanced listening experience.
However the most praiseworthy components of this track are its lyricism and overall theme. Mitski sings about wanting her mind to be “a clear glass with nothing”, referencing the idea of being utterly oblivious to everything. This ties in with the title, where Mitski portrays phones as a symbol of oblivion. Lyrics like “a bug floating in the melted amber of a citronella candle” help to reinforce this theme in a poetic fashion.
Based off this single, I’m expecting a stylistic and thoughtful approach to this album. All I can say is I can’t wait for it’s full release in late February!
LYRICAL INQUIRY’S RATING: 7/10
