ALBUM REVIEW – MADISON BEER

locket is Madison Beer’s fourth studio album, released on January 16th, 2026. The record sticks to Madison’s usual melodic, slower style with occasional experimentation on a few outliers.
The lead single “make you mine” was released almost two years ago in February 2024. The dance-pop track introduced a different vibe to Madison’s discography. Following singles “yes baby”, which went down a similar route to “make you mine”, and “bittersweet”, which leaned into Madison’s usual style, were both released in later 2025. As for my opinion, I really enjoyed all of these records, with “yes baby” being my favorite. With the album’s full release, we received many new songs and at least one new highlight. This can be none other than “bad enough”, an angelic ballad that showcases Madison’s vocal abilities and potential for emotional impact.
Unfortunately, I felt this album fell short on originality and charisma. It’s overloaded with dull ballads that lack appeal melodically, instrumentally, and lyrically. The issue I have with this record is not one of filler, but rather one of stylistic choices. Madison’s dance-pop music has much more sonic appeal than her soft ballads, complementing her voice in a distinctive, original way as opposed to the latter, which does nothing but blend in with all other artists who share a similar style. I truly hope the response to this album helps her realize this, as I believe a rebrand along this route could really help her stand out as an artist.
